We are very proud to be joined this year for photos and book signing by special Walk Grand Marshall Oogy and author Larry Levin! Oogy, the Dog Only a Family Could Love, is the New York Times-bestselling story of a puppy brought back from the brink of death, and the family he adopted.
Mike Rossi from WSTW will also be on hand to add his special brand of humor to the festivities, and adoptable dogs from DHA will be in attendance—who knows, you just might find yourself a new friend that you want to take home!
Proceeds from the Walk for the Animals support DHA’s mission as it is carried out throughout a four state area. In order to continue carrying out this mission, DHA needs your support for the Walk for the Animals. When we planned last year’s premiere Black Cat Ball, we weren’t sure if it would become an annual event. We had never hosted a black tie affair of this kind, and were unsure of the response we’d receive. We were overwhelmed by the response from our supporters and animal-lovers across the region–more than 250 people attended including many local celebrities. We had so much fun, we decided to do it again–only this time it will be bigger and better! Black Cat Ball 2012–at a new venue and a new time and date–will feature more exquisite, Latin-inspired food and drink, live music and dancing, better audio/visual equipment, a bigger and more elegant completely private space, and a more central location with valet parking. Guests can also take advantage of a live and silent auction. Last year we announced that we were planning to build a new state-of-the-art adoption center. This year we will be unveiling the plans! Of course we’ll also be celebrating 41 years of rescuing and rehabilitating over 16,000 sick, injured, abused, and neglected stray cats and providing more than 20,000 free or low-cost spay/neuter surgeries for cats and dogs.
BARCStober Fest and 5k Run
Join us for our annual BARCStober Fest, featuring “Ready, Set, Sniff” 5 K run, on October 20th 2012. The fun begins at 11 am in Patterson Park near the Pagoda. BARCStober Fest benefits over 12,000 homeless animals that come to BARCS each year.
BARCStober Fest includes: pet contests (including costume), pet health and welfare specialists, pet blessings, pet micro-chipping, stage entertainment, food vendors, local artists, silent auction, raffle, other area animal rescues and so much more!
This year BARCStober Fest, in partnership with Charm City Run, will be featuring its first Ready…Set…Sniff 5 K Run OR Walk with your 4 legged friends around Baltimore’s Patterson Park. The Run/Walk ends right at the start of the festival so you and your fur kids and human family can enjoy a day of fun together!
The 4th Annual Ties and Tails Gala
The Ties & Tails Gala is an elegant, black-tie optional evening fundraiser featuring a cocktail reception, live entertainment, an open bar, dinner and dancing, and both a silent and live auction. Our guests celebrate our mission and recognize those that make a difference in the lives of homeless pets.
Best of all, your canine companions can attend with you! They will be treated like VIPs (Very Important Pooches) as they enjoy: their very own dog concierges, a souvenir “red carpet” photo with the “pawparazzi,” strutting their stuff with you in the Pet Promenade, and having their photo displayed at the event!
